Had dinner last night with my old Cat High mates.

Robin told me about a certain someone he met who, according to robin "eyes with no soul". Of course that statement does not mean alot, but one can grasp the gist of what my dear friend was trying to get at if we consider how he is often hired by some very rich and powerful folks who sue the heck out of publications or news networks who alledgely insult them.

By the way, this man is one of the top, perhaps most celeberated figures in the industry i'd be likely to work in. I doubt I'd be able to claw myself all the way up to the perch of this particular figure rests upon, but what if I get so sucked into the rat race? Life would be bloody tragic if it was just about getting the next pay raise, promotion, and earning the next million. But somehow, I feel that because of the powers that be in this day and age, that rather gloomy fate is somehow inevitable.

Scary shit.

The following post is somewhat M18 and more suited for the guys, and definitely not for those of my friends from church, so if you'd be offended, please do not read.

"Ha! You're to pervert-ish to be gay"

That was OC's response to me when I told him that I was gay and wanted to be posted to MDC or some other post that did significantly less strenuous work. By the way no, gay is not my way, I said it in jest. But if you happen to be that nice lady working at island creamerie or just happened to look like Jessica Biel, or better still, shaped like her, then I'd try my best to be, as long as we could do something like this:

Er, if you are a female, its a guy joke, Chuck and Larry kind of funny, please don't get bloody offended. That movie was bloody hilarious by the way and I thought it would be a good party joke when everyone's getting abit tipsy and one could get abit more daring. Speaking of parties, the last one I attended, minus the Spartan night where the kinkiest thing that happened was ps alif photographing me trying to grind Edwin while Suhairi from Bravo grinded me from the back, Ah Heng's party which happened a few weeks back was damn fun, and it did get kind of pervy.

It was, abit of an American Pie night for me. Booze and well, ahem ahem, b**bs. Ok la, American Pie is me exaggerating. It was pathetic by Stiffler's standards, just a very nice heartland-ish bbq, there was some alcohol(if you guys happen to be reading this, which I doubt, but if you do, I wasn't bloody drunk!) that went around and then of course, the unmentionables. Three of them in total, two pressed up against my elbow during photo-takin at night, and another one, the one on the right nicely shown when I was making my way there. And we were also pouring icy cold water on one another, squirting honey down each others shirts, and mashing the chocolate cake all over. If you weren't there, "we" refers to the folks from Alpha hor...

No la, I'd still disagree with my OC. The little naughty annecdotes that happened were all, par chance, and I being embarassed jerked away when the first happened. And I think I'm alot more conservative then some of the folks I work with no? Some of them probably have done most of the stuff on porn sites, and, also, despite being egged to visit the naughty club in Taiwan to get some, I refused, even when I did kind of made up my mind after that unfortunate episode that Christianity was not the way to go. And by the way, i thought it kind of humourous how the lot did not get any in the end cause the price was S$100, way too expensive.

But the point is, I don't think I'm quite the perv la, and I'm awfully grateful I don't see sex the way Candace Bushnell and co. do, and have it in my soul to be a bit more idealistic then the way they have it in Sex and the City. Rather, I think it is just that I've grown that bit wiser having seen that itsy bit more of what really goes on outside of my nice little goodie JC shell, and thus better able accept that the levels of testosterone I have in my veins are pretty normal for someone at the age of twenty.

ANU students protesting the conferring of a honorary degree to our MM.

The irony with Myanmar

I'm glad Singapore is making herself heard. Surprised surely, but its good news isn't it? Our PM himself sending letters to other regional and even Asian powers like India and China to take action, lending our support to the UN envoy, Ibrahim Gambari, and trying to assert diplomatic pressure on the junta. Its almost as if we are creeping into a similar league with the S. Koreans and Japanese on the humanitarian scene. I hope such activism will continue when the circumstances permit it, but at the same time, I can't help, especially when looked at within the context of our government's conduct relating to certain freedoms within the last decade, detect a pointed sense of irony.

The MFA explicitly disagrees with the use of violence to end the peaceful demonstrations by the junta.

We have not been violent in decades, but we on the other hand DO NOT even allow peaceful public protests.

This is not to say that I am terribly pro civil disobedience, I am more undecided than anything when it comes to this. It can be responsible for some very awful crowd-appeasing, short term policy making, but I cannot help but cringe when I see videos on Youtube of how a section/platoon/squad (don't know the jargon they use for this) of riot police, armed to the teeth with their batons, riot sheilds, helmets and body armour confront and later arrest the handful of protestors led by Dr. Chee Soon Juan. It seems completely unecessary and it reflects very badly on Singapore. And by the way, despite respecting his commitment and passion, I do not even like that guy.

Secondly consider how the statements we have issued, clearly delineanate, and rightly so, a very harsh stance against the use of violence by the junta. It is also really nice to have the Temasek Holdings owned press being so passionate about democracy.

Sadly, put the above right next to how we have sued or limited the circulation of certain foreign journals(there's a long list yes, but I can't quite remember them) when their comments put our government in an unsavoury light. I just saw on Youtube a CNN report of how our PM and MM sued the Far Easter Economic Review for suggesting they were corrupt. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Dh8ZfGv3aug

Hopefully, such activism in promoting human rights in the region would translate to greater openess on the part of our ruling party. I am hoping to God our they would tone down on the defamation suits they so frequently raise against members of the opposition or foreign news groups, and stop trying to deter these news conglomerates from criticising them by limiting their circulation or screening, or completely banning them for that matter, bearing in mind how our local media is most active right now in Myanmese affairs. I am not a law student but (according to wikipedia at least) the media should have the privillege to make certain allegations which if were to be found true would be in public interest.

So hopefully, the ruling party would be able to take rather pointed criticism with abit more grace and that we would in the coming years, be alot more credible in influencing events as such in the region. And yes, no longer have to put up with nonsense like in the picture shown at the start of this post without being able to defend ourselves with verve and belief.
